Before becoming a coach I followed a winding career path that took me through massage therapy, administrative support, consulting, and project management. I often said I had never figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I kinda followed opportunity and circumstance. I ended up in a pretty great-paying job as a mid-level manager at a tech company. By all external measures I should have been ecstatic–I was being paid more than I ever thought possible, working for a well-known company, and with plenty of growth potential ahead of me. I wasn’t ecstatic, though, instead I was anxious, grumpy and exhausted. I think a lot of people experience a similar disconnect between external measures and internal satisfaction at some point in their lives. I feel fortunate to have had the experiences I did and to have found a path to where I am now. All of the experiences, whether painful or pleasurable, have led me here and help me connect more deeply with myself and with those I meet.
